Speed-the-Plow
April 6 - May 5, 2012 / Thursday-Saturday at 8:00pm; Select Sundays at 5:00pm
Filled with playwright David Mamet's trademark intense rapid-fire dialogue and provocative themes, "Speed-the-Plow" focuses on the ruthless nature of the Hollywood movie industry. Directed by Artistic Director Grant McGowen, it's a behind the scenes story of handshaking, dealbreaking, and backstabbing as only Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet can tell it.
"Lively and engrossing... Smith and Mello relish the volley of Mamet's dialogue...it's always fun watching Mamet put the right actors through their paces." -Creative Loafing
"A perfect cast... They deliver. Go." -Atlanta InTown
"Still timely, taking digs about the industry. It's also cynical and funny, with some occasionally profane one-liners...Costello is talented and has reliable timing." -ArtsATL
"Speed-the-Plow is raw in your face Hollywood suspense, a perfect play in a place that is burgeoning as the new East Coast star making movie town and beckon of dreams, ATLwood." -Pure Politics
